As Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, David Shelton is responsible for the overall strategy and direction for the New Forests and New Agriculture companies in Australia and New Zealand, representing approximately $10bn of assets in the region.
As Global Head of Investments, David’s primary focus is on identifying and delivering investments across the suite of forestry, infrastructure, processing and agriculture investment strategies.
David oversees investment teams in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Asia and Africa where they are responsible for sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, including structuring and executing transactions, financial analysis, business planning, negotiation, due diligence, and tax planning.
One of New Forests founding employees over 20 years previous, David has been instrumental in contributing to the growth and innovation of New Forests and New Agriculture, helping to reach its current position as a top 5 manager of natural capital globally.
During his career at New Forests, David has led numerous investment transactions in the forestry, processing and agriculture sectors. These investments have made him one of the most experienced investment specialists covering forestry and agriculture globally.
David represents client funds on several company Boards including Chair of Yougawalla Pastarol Company (YPC), Chair of Benditi Pastoral Co., a Director of Timberlink Australia Pty Ltd, as well as various holding company Boards and committees.
