Edward Verbakel is the CEO of VB Group and a co-founder and shareholder of Atrium Agri, headquartered in the Netherlands. A second-generation leader, he has played a pivotal role in transforming the family business into a global frontrunner in greenhouse and sustainable energy solutions. After studying Business Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Edward joined VB in 1997 to expand its international presence and became a board member in 2001. As CEO, he transformed VB into a design–build provider, specializing in turnkey greenhouse construction, climate systems, and geothermal energy integration. VB has completed numerous high-tech greenhouse projects worldwide, including in the U.S., enhancing energy and water efficiency, automation, and yield optimization.

As a founding partner of Atrium Agri, Edward supported VB’s strategic acquisitions while maintaining company independence. Together with Havecon and PB tec, VB forms part of the largest horticultural supply cluster, achieving nearly €300 million in revenue. He emphasizes sector expertise over purely financial decision-making.
